There are many collet types, Often 8 bar press fit versions are found on Traditional vintage Royal Marines Wolseley Helmets, this collet a modern 6 hole (2 part) screw in version found on some more modern production variants that is more easy to assemble / disassemble.
The "Collet" has a central screw thread into which some additional attachments (not included) can be fitted at the top such as a cloth covered domed aerators caps, Metal Spikes or a Royal Marines style ball.
